Hula Girls Shave Ice is a family owned business officially started by Kelly Cartter with her daughters in May of 2006.  But the story began years before that. We have deep roots with the Hawaiian culture, raised with many friends in the Hawaiian community and with close ties to the Island of Kauai. Our first Shave Ice machine came from a friends Uncle's Pearl City, Oahu Sushi restaurant. It was a surprise gift for Kelly in 2004 and she happily Shaved Ice for friends and family. At the request of some of our Hawaiian friends we served Shave Ice at their Keiki's Birthdays and family luaus for the first couple of years. Quickly word got around that the high quality and unique natural flavors that makes Shave Ice in Hawaii such a favorite was finely available on the Mainland, Hula Girls Shave Ice began to grow and quickly became Orange County's and Southern California's favorite famous authentic Hawaiian Shave Ice.  (Remember it's Not shaved ice, there's no "d" in Hawaii.)

Nothing makes us smile more than when a friend or customers have one of our Shave Ice and flash back to their youth or vacations on the Islands and their favorite Shave Ice, we even had an Auntie cry with her fond memories! Everyone has a favorite combo and a favorite place. We are just happy to be mentioned with some of the great Traditional Shave Ice stores on Hawaii, like Matsumoto"s Shave Ice, Waiola Shave Ice or Aoki's Shave Ice. Believe us, we know Shave Ice, there is tradition, history and love behind it. That's why we do it.

We pride ourselves on only using block ice machines that produce the finest fluffiest ice, our motto is if it’s not block its chip! Block Ice is harder to work with, takes longer to make and you have to freeze your own ice but we feel it’s worth it, it’s the way they make it on the Islands and you will taste the difference! If you decide to use someone else be sure they only use a NSF approved BLOCK shaver, if not find someone else or rent a snow cone machine it will be the same or just call us and you don't have to worry about expensive machine rentals and then having to buy a few flavors of heavy corn syrup artificial flavors. You can just sit back and enjoy the party knowing that your guests are having some of the best Shave Ice they have ever had and with no clean up or rental machine return! Hula Girls Shave Ice has catered product launches, tradeshows, private events and fundraisers for Vans, Aloha Falsetto Festival, Kala Koa Entertainment, Southern California Slack Key Festival, Dewalt, Mira Mesa Carnival, Black and Decker, Newport Aquatic Center, Tiki Oasis, Anaheim Ducks, the City of Newport Beach, Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation, Quest Diagnostics, Davis Real Estate, Anaheim Hockey Club, Southern California Out Rigger Association (SCORA), the Home Depot, Newport Elementary School, Davis Magnet School, Mariners Christian Academy, Ensign Jr. High, Friday Night Lights, Orange Coast College Swim Team, Ignite Health, Costa Mesa High School Cheer Leader program, Kaiser School Carnival as well as numerous other Halua Hula (Hula Schools),  Elementary, Middle and High schools, sports teams and charities to help with their fundraisers.  Hula Girls Shave Ice has raised more than $15,500 and counting for local Schools, Pediatric Cancer and sports teams, we can help yours too!
